About the Czech Republic
The Czech Republic’s gorgeous rural countryside and mountains balance well with its cities’ architectural richness of castles and mansions. With wine trails and hiking trips, museums and historical towns, this landlocked country has much to offer its
visitors. Though it has only been known as the Czech Republic for a little over 20 years, its historical roots go much deeper into the times of the well toured Bohemian region as well as the lesser visited Moravian region.
Prague is one of the most popular destinations due to its historically rich Old Town with the gorgeous Old
Town Square and Prague Castle. Outside the capital city, Karlovy Vary, known for its spas and twelve thermal springs, is a worthy visit and just a day trip away. Brno, the capital city of the Moravia region, is the host city of Moto GP Grand Prix,
known to be the world’s most prestigious motorcycle championship.
A member of the Schengen Agreement, travel requirements and visas to the Czech Republic are therefore equal to countries in the Schengen Zone. Czech is the main language spoken and travelers can get by with English in the tourist zones, but the older
generation is not likely to speak it as well as the younger one outside major tourist cities. Czechs are known for hearty meals consisting of pork and potatoes and traditional Czech beer, such as Pilsner Urquell or Budweiser Budvar, is the perfect
pairing to it. Travelers to the Czech Republic will find plenty of accommodation options including hotels, hostels, and guesthouses in both the cities and countryside much like the rest of western Europe. For a more unique experience there is the
Krumlov Tower in the small historic city of Cesky Krumlov which has been updated to accommodate guests. The Medieval Hotel Detenice, a medieval themed hotel in the north, is also an unusual way to enjoy your stay.
