Great Family-Friendly All-Inclusive Resorts Around the USA

Sometimes (well, often) we just want the easiest thing possible when planning a family vacation. And few things are simpler than an all-inclusive resort.  You know almost exactly what you budget will be and once you book your dates you��re pretty much done.  All-inclusive options can seem limited within the continental U.S. but they do exist across the country. Here are nine across the US with unique offerings and a range of price tags. They’re worth checking out for your next easy getaway. Assume taxes and tips are extra. 

Tyler Place, Vermont

What’s the Deal: Many families return to this summer camp for all ages year after year. Sleep in cabins, cottages or the inn and grab a local microbrew with your buffet-style dinner. Send the kids off for camp activities each day while the adults do grown-up versions of the same woodsy and water-based activities. Or skip that and have a picnic lunch with your family followed by a hike or swim on your own.

Price Tag: $132 - $452 per night for adults and $100 - $152 per night for kids.

What’s extra: Alcohol, motorized sports, spa treatments, some private lessons.

Rocking Horse Ranch, New York

What’s the Deal: More Catskills resort a la Dirty Dancing than western ranch, Rocking Horse is a two-hour drive from New York City and accessible by the Metro-North commuter train. This makes it a good bet for weekend getaways as well as for longer stays. Parents say the food could be better but the resort more than makes up for it with ice skating and tubing in winter, and mountain tubing, horseback riding, mini-golf, bungee trampolines and lake activities in summer. There’s an indoor water park, kids club and a spa, too.

Price Tag: Rates range from $299 to $649 a night for a family of four.

What’s extra: Alcohol, spa services and babysitting for kids under 3.

Woodloch Pines Resort, Pennsylvania

What’s the Deal: Woodloch’s best feature is the gorgeous lake it hugs. There is swimming in the summer and motorboat rides, canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding well into the fall and starting in early spring. There are indoor and outdoor pools, splash pads and hot tubs and a water slide for older kids. Activities change with the seasons but usually include evening entertainment and morning yoga. 

Price Tag: Starting rates swing from $100 to $250 per night per adult. Kids 19 and under are half-price and kids 6 and under stay for free

What’s extra: Alcohol and special kids’ mocktails. Some activities like zip lining and jewelry making.

Adventures on the Gorge, West Virginia

What’s the Deal: This adventure resort offers whitewater rafting, zip lines, rock climbing, fishing, kayaking, electric bikes, paddle boarding and proximity to three national park area including New River Gorge. There’s a kids’ club in the summer. Accommodations range from campsites to luxury cabins

Price Tag: Prices start at $319 per person for two days of mild adventure and $399 per person for two days packed with activities (Rates for children 12 and under are discounted by 50 to $100). 

What’s extra: Alcohol

Club Med Sandpiper Bay, Florida

What’s the Deal: The only real all-inclusive beach resort we’ve come across in the U.S., It has Club Med’s usual full roster of land and water activities, sprawling pools, kids clubs for kids from 4 months to 17years, and evening entertainment. There is a trapeze school and other circus activities. Meals are generous and alcohol is included in the price here.


Price Tag: Starting rates range from $835 to $1286 per week per adult. Kids rates are about 10% less.

What’s extra: Spa services, premium alcohol, some motorized sports and lessons. 

French Broad Outpost Ranch, Tennessee

What’s the Deal: They aspire to be a real western ranch east of the Mississippi with meals horseback riding, cattle drives, a kids rodeo, a square dance and a supper ride on horseback among the included activities. Guests are allowed to bring their own wine and hard liquor.

Price Tag: High-season prices start at $1374.00 for adults and $882.00 for kids for a week. Three and four night stays are available.

What’s extra: Beer and wine coolers. and an optional off-site rafting trip on Saturdays.

Lone Mountain Ranch, Montana

What’s the Deal: In summer the ranch offers horseback riding, hiking, canoeing, biking, a ranch barbecue, a visit to Yellowstone National Park, an outdoor kids program for 4-to-12-year-olds, among other activities. In winter there are horse-drawn sleigh rides, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and downhill skiing at  nearby Big Sky.  Meals, yoga and live western music at night are among the year-round offerings.

Price Tag: With horseback riding rates start at $1795 a week for adults, $1695 for 13 to 17 year-olds, and $1595 for 6 to 12 year-olds. Lower rates without horse back riding are available. 

What’s extra: Alcohol, a few activities included guided fly-fishing.

The Lodge & Spa at Brush Creek Ranch, Wyoming

What’s the Deal: Billing itself as a luxury ranch experience, Brush Creek’s offerings include horseback riding a range of sport shooting and fishing activities, yoga, steam room and sauna, an adventure center with paintball, climbing wall, zip line and ropes course, mountain biking and local airport transfers

Price Tag: Stays start at $775 per person per night plus a 23% resort fee. Three-night minimum.

What’s extra: Spa treatments, some offsite excursions

Coffee Creek Ranch, California

What’s the Deal: This half-ranch/half-family resort offers a range of activities including horseback riding, fishing a rifle and archery range, sport-shooting, hiking and games like ping pong, foosball and horseshoes, and badminton. There’s a kids’ club in summer.  

Price Tag: Weekly rates start at $1,795 for adults,  $1695 (13-17 year-olds), $1595 (6-12 year-olds) and $1270 (3-5 year olds)

What’s extra: Alcohol, private riding lessons, ammunition
